Wednesday November 6, 2013

Hi everyone,

We have been having a fun morning practicing our Dr.Seuss story. The children are getting into character and trying to read with expression and it's great to see. I will be sending home their individual parts soon so you can have a chance to practice with them.

Homework and Class Activities:
In Art class Grade 1 students painted and decorated rocks and in Language class we have started to create biographies for their Pet Rocks. They wrote their first drafts today and I marked and returned them. For homework students are to rewrite a second draft with their corrections and return them tomorrow. Some students did not finish answering all of the questions for their first draft so they need to make sure they do it all for tomorrow. Important: For the second draft, students must write 2 things that their Pet Rock likes to eat and 2 things that it can do.

In Science we have been learning about materials and I would like to create a board in our classroom where we can hang a variety of materials. I would like to ask for your help in providing a variety of objects made from natural materials, human made materials, or a combination of both. Examples might include cardboard, pieces of cloth, small pieces of wood, feathers, plastic beads, shells, acorns, grass, leaves, cotton, or leather. I would like students to bring in an object by Friday November 8, 2013. Thank you for your cooperation!
