Tuesday Homework: Language and Spelling

English Workbook Plus
Page 3-6

We have been talking about what sentences are and the different parts that make them up.

For tonight's homework students are asked to draw lines under the naming part of each sentence.
For example, Miss Fisher played soccer today.

Page 5 asks for a line to be drawn under the action part of the sentence. For example, Miss Fisher played outside today.

Things to remember:
  • A sentence tells what someone did or does.
  • The naming part of the sentence should answer the question "Who?"
  • In the example above, who played soccer? Miss Fisher played soccer.
  • The action part of the sentence answers the question "what?"
  • In the example above, What did Miss Fisher do? Miss Fisher played.
