Second Quarter Language and Spelling Exam Review

  • recognizing and naming the verb or action part of a sentence
  • recognizing and circling the naming part of a sentence
  • understanding that nouns are people, places, or things
  • recognizing nouns as the naming part in a sentence
  • recognizing the difference between a question and a telling sentence
  • able to put the correct end marks for a telling sentence and a question
  • understands that all sentences must begin with a capital letter and end with the correct mark
  • recognize question words (When, how, will, who, can, are, is, where, do, what...)
  • change regular present tense verbs into past tense verbs by adding -ed (ex: play --> played)
  • read words and write the correct number of syllables
  • know the BE verb (is, am, are) and be able to match it with the appropriate pronoun
  • be able to replace nouns with pronouns
  • subject verb agreement (I like, You like, He/she/it likes...)
