1st Quarter Social Studies Exam Review
Grade 1 students will write their first quarter Social Studies exam during third period on Friday October 11, 2013. Students should be prepared to be tested on the following concepts:
- Understand what a rule is and be able to identify them
- Be comfortable looking at a simple map and answering questions using the vocabulary, next to, across from, beside, between (for example, the classroom is across from the lunch room)
- Understand that symbols are pictures that stand for something else (example, a lantern could be a symbol for Taiwan, a bowl and chopsticks could be a symbol for the lunchroom)
- Be able to use a chart or table to put things into groups (for example, sort healthy and unhealthy snacks into the proper categories)
- Recognize the difference between schools long ago and schools today. Specifically in the tools used then and now.
