I have posted the material that students should review for all major subject exams. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to write to me in the communication book.
This morning students had their Health exam and we did some Phonics work and practiced Reading.
A couple of important reminders:
1. Students need to bring their P.E. uniforms to school on Thursdays or they will not be permitted to participate in P.E. class
2. If students are unable to do the homework please send a short note explaining the reason. This will help me to know if they need extra help or if they simply didn't have time at home in the evening to complete it.
3. Please talk with your children about the exam process. We have spent time talking about it at school but as it is a big transition for them I think it is worthwhile to spend a few minutes going over the process with them. I need to stress how important it is for them to develop good test taking skills. This is the first of many years that they will experience exams and the sooner they develop good study habits and test taking abilities the better off they will be. Two points I hope they can remember for major subject exams next week are:
- There is absolutely no talking during exams. If they have a question they must raise their hand quietly and wait for a teacher to come to their desk.
- They cannot just say they don't understand or can't read the question. I know that these tests seem daunting but there won't be anything on them that we haven't gone over in class many times. They must try to read the questions and the sentences. It is impossible for me to read each question for each student in the time allotted.
Thursday Homework: Math
Math Practice page 12 Add in Any Order
Students need to put parts together to make a whole and then switch the placement of the parts to make the same whole. For example, 2+3=5 and 3+2=5.
